A Love Letter From The Moon

[I had to take a number of lit electives in my last year of college to complete the number of units of English required for law school. Wrote this for the legendary Krip Yuson’s poetry class.]

A Love Letter From the Moon

You fall in love with me once every November.

My Sun, how you share your light unselfishly.

Ah! I outshine the brightest stars in the dark sky.

My silvery brilliance is reflected upon the unsuspecting sea.

But the world steals our love once every November.

So each night, your love decreases slowly.

Ashamed so I hide under a blanket of black.

The sea no longer recognizes me.

My love, I would know if you have read this letter,

If you fall in love with me twice next November.
